About Ootoya

Cuisine prepared from scratch
At our restaurants, we have always prided ourselves on carefully crafting each dish to order, with all meals freshly prepared and meticulously cooked in-house.

Charcoal-grilled dishes
We grill fish and meat over charcoal, known for its high heat efficiency. Enjoy the rich flavor and aroma that comes from slow grilling over charcoal.

Premium Honkarebushi bonito flakes
Premium Honkarebushi bonito flakes are made using a traditional method that has been handed down for around 300 years in Makurazaki, Kagoshima Prefecture. Each fillet is carefully coated with a special mold culture and sun-dried repeatedly over a period of more than six months to condense the flavor of the bonito. The result is a deliciously aromatic and flavorful product that is the pride of Makurazaki.

Fresh panko
Ootoya’s cutlets are made with fresh panko breadcrumbs. Once you place your order, we carefully coat the cutlets with fresh panko and fry them slowly at a low temperature. The fresh panko locks in flavor and moisture while creating a perfectly crisp, golden exterior.

Grated daikon radish
We grate daikon radish just before serving it to diners. When grated, daikon produces a spicy component that brings out the flavor of the fish’s fat, making it even tastier.

Vegetables
Fresh vegetables are an absolute must for Ootoya’s set meals. The reason you can trust the quality of our food is because of the care farmers put into growing every vegetable.

Miso soup
We adjust the flavor of our set meal miso soup according to the season by carefully selecting miso from different regions of Japan. Savor our set meals even more with seasonal miso soup.

Rice
We go the extra mile to source only the finest rice, ensuring that we choose brands that are suited to local palates. The result is freshly cooked, fluffy rice that complements the flavor of our meals.
Signature Menu

Fried Chicken and Veggies w/Black Vinegar Sauce
One of Ootoya’s signature dishes, featuring colorful vegetables and chicken tatsuta-age coated in Ootoya’s special black vinegar sauce.

Charcoal Grilled Mackerel
We slowly grill fatty mackerel over charcoal to bring out its aroma. Served with freshly grated daikon radish.

Home Style Simmered Chicken Cutlet
Chicken cutlet simmered in a special sauce that has been popular with diners for as long as we have been in business. Nameko mushrooms and grated daikon radish add the finishing touch.

Ootoya Tuna & Healthy Sticky Bowl
A bowl of rice topped with natto, okra, mekabu seaweed, grated yam, tuna, egg yolk, and other ingredients, served with premium Honkarebushi bonito flakes.

Ootoya-Style Nanban Chicken
A hearty set meal featuring karaage chicken topped with rich homemade tartar sauce and Japanese sweet vinegar.

Bringing the warmth of Japanese home-style teishoku meals to tables around the world.
Ootoya’s teishoku, or set meals, offer the authentic taste of traditional Japanese home-cooked meals that have been designed with the family’s health, nutrition, and delight in mind. Driven by a desire to deliver this culinary culture to customers around the world, we have expanded our network of restaurants overseas in the hope of contributing to the health and well-being of people everywhere.
We are committed to maintaining the same taste and quality at our overseas restaurants as in Japan. To do so, we deliberately avoid localizing our dishes and export as many seasonings and key ingredients as possible from Japan. We are also committed to serving food that’s freshly made right here in our kitchen.
